  1. Determine the Frequency: Review the frequency distribution table to find the frequency of each class or category. The mode is defined as the value that appears most frequently in the dataset.
  2. Identify the Modal Class: For grouped data, first locate the class interval with the highest frequency. This interval is known as the modal class. If the data is ungrouped, simply look for the value that has the highest count.
  3. Calculate Mode for Grouped Data: If working with grouped data, use the mode formula: Mode=L+(f1−f02f1−f0−f2)×hMode=L+(2f1​−f0​−f2​f1​−f0​​)×hwhere:
    • LL is the lower limit of the modal class,
    • f1f1​ is the frequency of the modal class,
    • f0f0​ is the frequency of the class preceding the modal class,
    • f2f2​ is the frequency of the class succeeding the modal class,
    • hh is the width of the class interval.
  4. Interpret Results: The result from this calculation gives you an estimate of the mode for grouped data. For ungrouped data, simply note which value has the highest frequency.
